Brrrr

why hello there cup of coffee~
Today I woke up early! 8:20am. I made it downtown at 9:00am and chilled at Second Cup for a bit and got a nice cup of pecan coffee!!! This guy also made me want to pee so badly in class..but was definitely worth it.

Then I ate lunch. Lunch was the congee I made from last night + bamboo slices from soup and some (very bony) duck. It was delicious!

Congee with stuff
In my food culture class, there was a presentation on Switzerland! I didn't know there were 4 official languages in that country.. French, German, Italian and some other one similar to Italian. Craazeee!
I ate a sugar/cinnamon cookie, a shot of something alcoholic, a piece of bread and a toblerone (Swiss people invented it!)

After class and a long lab, I went to Kenko for work. I ate some a bowl of rice and some pork pieces (unpictured) It was kind of spicy and sweet. I really enjoyed it.

I came home and ate a slices of toast with almond butter, cheese and a whole chopped apple with cinnamon + a glass of milk.

Mid Nov Weekend Edition

It finally snowed this weekend (well starting Thursday..).. I stuffed 1/2 pb sandwich in my mouth on the way out the door..

Friday was a busy day! I went to the bus stop in the morning and the bus didn't come >=(. Missed first class. But that's okay..because a guy wearing a Mcdonald's had a tray of ~20 cups of coffee was walking around the streets on portage handing out FREE coffee as part of their campaign (free coffee for 1/2 month in Nov). This almost makes up for missing class.

I ate one of my muffins that I baked a couple days earlier for during class it was too sweet and eh. But made me less hungry! :D

my weird tasting home-made muffin
My next class was my Culture and Foods class. Groups are doing presentations now (as explained in an earlier post). This group did Sweden. They baked some Swedish pastries! They were so beautiful and looked liked you could buy them in an actual bakery. It also tasted really good! The coconut ball of butter thing was way to rich. It was almost like biting into butter..the girl also let us know that it was really BAD for you. I ate it anyway. The bun was also super yum. Very eggy and not doughy at all.

Another group did their presentation on Germany. It was very entertaining. They made a black forest-ish cake with cream. It was so yummy. Not too dense (like the cake we made during our lab) and the icing wasn't overly sweet. We also tried some GERMAN BEER. Awesome.

After class I rushed to Kenko and ran into the dish washer boy on the bus! He also lives on top of the restaurant LOL. I took the bus to work with him. Work was really really slow! I did a bunch of cleaning and didn't eat anything at work. I made a pretty deece amount of tip though =D.

When I got home I was starving so I made this pasta dish. In it is: whole wheat pasta, broccoli and a small can of mushroom soup. It was surprisingly really good! I made enough for about 3 people. In my house, if you make food you're supposed to make some for everyone (kind of a rule). In the end, no one ate my creation =(. So I finished this dish for the next two meals I ate XD.

Pasta with mushroom soup and chopped brocolli
I attempted to plan a fun karaoke night with a bunch of friends but unfortunately most of them tend to flake in the end.... =.=
It ended up being Nikki and I chillin at Bar Italia. Also means I drank some alcohol.. =/ I had a few drinks and the bartender gave Nikki and I a free shot of Soho Liqueur. I love soho liqueur.. tastes really good. We proceeded to go to Muse and karaoked together for awhile =). Some of Eric's friends were there too. When I got home I ate more pasta (not pictured...)

I woke up on Saturday pretty late and feeling really tired. I didn't expect to work on this day but one of the workers at Kenko had Strep throat and no one else could work = GRUMPY Linda. I woke up, ate the last of my pasta from last night for brunch (not pictured), watched some tv, played some Farmville and got ready for work.

So I went in to work for 4:15.. expecting to be finished by 8:30 but didn't end up leaving until 10:30 so I couldn't go to my cousins birthday. At work I ate a salmon maki (unpictured).

I didn't actually get home until about 11:00ish and was pretty hungry and a irritated.. I ended up eating some grapes, laughing cow cheese, bread + almond butter (the PC brand one) and an apple with cinnamon. Then proceeded to bed...at 2am.

I haven't actually finished eating these grapes yet.

cinnamon apple = awesome
Which leads me to Sunday! A relaxing day for most people but not for me. My sister woke me up at 10:00am and told me to go study with her. We planned to stop at Rexall for their 50% off makeup sale =D then study at her work but many unfortunate events occurred...

About 5 minutes after my sister woke me up, my Dad asked me to drive him to the Hospital to check out his back. He pulled his back muscle on Saturday and can't really walk properly without an immense amount of pain. My Dad always wants to go to the hospital for every single emergency (instead of the doctor) and it doesn't make sense. Hospital wait times are ridiculously long and I don't want my Dad waiting there forever. I managed to convince him to visit the Pan Am Clinic instead (score!!) since they specialize in muscles and injuries with muscles. My sister drove him to the clinic shortly after and I stayed home and made some Congee for my Dad to eat later and also some lunch for my sis and I.
Linda's congee! I ate this portion.
For lunch I made tuna salad wraps: one can of tuna, calorie wise mayonnaise, a few slices of old cheddar, one package of laughing cow cheese.

My sister came back and we went to Rexall and I got some cool make up!  They also claim to be eco-friendly. Perhaps reducing my ecological footprint?  We went to Mcdonald's to get some free coffee and picked up my Dad. We then stopped at Wal-Mart to get his prescription for his meds. I also picked up some necessities: toiletries, foaming face wash and cotton balls

I love free coffee!

powder/blush/bronzer brush is from walmart, bronzer is from Rexall
I went to Danny's expecting to work the afternoon but was a little irritated by the time I got there. Mom tried to tell me to go home and I was getting really irritated because I just wanted to work and get it over with. I said some hurtful things and Mom went absolutely crazy. I can't even describe it - it was definitely a gong show. I really wanted to cry but there was no point in that......so I left and went to study with my sis @ her work.  I ate my apple and lunch wrap while I was there - the banana didn't end up being eaten.

I can still eat apples normally!
I got home at 11:30 and ate some noodles my Dad (or mom) cooked. It was good, but kind of oily. There was bamboo and duck in the soup.

I am going to drink milk and eat this turtle chocolate now. Goodbye weekenddddddddd!

Thursday work-a-thon START!

I woke up determined to eat better as I've been eating pretty badly lately.. so I ate a bowl of vector cereal. To be honest, I really want to eat that new almond butter I have.. but must finish my PC brand almond butter first =(. Tomorrow I will attempt to eat bread for brekky!

I took a nap for awhile and then went to the doctor. I now have a family doctor =D. He recommended that I go get an x-ray scan to see if there is any serious issues and some physio for my knee (doctors note!) I went home and was starving (it was like, noon) and stuffed some of this goop (pork with tomato sauce and some spices?)  with rice in my mouth. It's actually quite tasty, even though it looks really gross...

I bolted out the door and drove to volunteering. I was 10 minutes late...as usual. Today we made bean burritos! I ate half of one (no pic). It was so good! I'd consider making it at home ;). Basically you mash together caned kidney beans, cumin, garlic powder, chili powder and canned tomatoes. You roll that up in a tortilla wrap an sprinkle on cheese and green onions then bake it in the oven for 15-20 minutes. It tastes much better than the one in the store..  and is much HEALTHIER.

Time was pretty tight today. I didn't have a chance to sit down at the group meeting at healthy start (volunteering) with the dietitian and group members because I had to go to Danny's and work for an hour so my mom could go to my brother's parent teacher night. I speed cleaned at Danny's for that hour and wasn't event distracted by celly phone the whole time! My sis came to relieve me at 5:30 and I drove to work for 6.

At Kenko I ate a delicious (and free!) golden crunch roll. (no picture.. =(..) Inside was salmon, avocado and something else.. I LOVE SUSHI!  I can never get sick of it.. I also ate a small bowl of Korean congee! (no pic) It tastes different because they put seaweed in it =s. And the rice is much more starchy compared to Chinese congee.

After work I grabbed a cup of late night coffee with an old friend. I got a medium french vanilla (and resisted a 49 cent donut)

Yummeh. Today's food is missing vegetables and fruits. AGAIN. I need to take a multi vitamin nowadays.  Also it finally snowed in today. Time to take out that parka! >_<

Wednesday eat whatever day

Missed first class today. Woke up and my ankle was in PAIN. It's seriously swollen =S. So I rolled over and slept some more. Eventually I woke up because I remembered I volunteered to help out for something. I made a PB and banana sandwich for breakfast/lunch. I ate half of it on the way to the bus stop. The other half I ate in my food cultures class.

Wednesday is food prep lab day! Today was pastry day. Our group made apple pie and angel cake. The apple pie was soo good. But rolling the pie crust is definitely a lot of work >_<. I ate a lot of cake that other groups made and honestly it was kind of gross. It was really dense, rich and thick and the icing was gross. I'm not a big fan of icing because I find it's usually too sweet.

I went to costco with my Mom and brother and ate a piece of cheese, some quinoa and peas ..and a cup of coffee. I also found some great buys there and since money bank (mom) was around I made her buy it =D.

I found almond butter (the *good* brand), some flour, some extra virgin olive oil,  gala apples, 3 kinds of goat cheese (I've forgottten what kind they are now but will report later), and laughing cow cheese, which is a creamy goat cheese! YUM!

I nibbled on some costco fries that my mom bought (maybe 10-15 fries =s). They were kind of burnt. EWW. I also drank a some POP (Fresca - tasted like it was sweetened with aspartame).

Ate two of these.

And baked some banana walnut muffins. I used honey again, and it is way to sweet! Ew! I knew that the oatmeal cookies were too sweet because of the honey but kind of forgot about that. So a 1:1 ratio for granulated sugar : honey may not have been the best option. =s. Next time. Also they don't taste that good. Apparently they'll taste better after a day. We'll see tomorrow. I ate one of these muffins.

Tuesday - avoiding

I woke up and ate this turkey wrap from Danny's that my Dad brought home. It was delicious. I ate 2/3 of it and threw 1/3 of it away.

Today was hard to get through. I wasn't able to do many of things that I'd planned to do because I felt like I couldn't. So I went to the and I got myself a present @ the mall =D. I got a pair of black earrings. It wasn't actually painful. I remember it really hurting when I got piercings back in elementary. It's more like a pinch.

I went to a boring HESO meeting and talked about Movember and doing the display case upstairs. Ran some errands and eventually made it home and made myself some dinner..which was dundundun..instant noodles. It was actually more fun to make than eat. I could only eat about 1/2 of the bowl and resorted to eating a piece of bread and pb.

honestly,..gross.

so much better

I went to play vball with some of the old superspike members, random people and Dhana. It was FUN but I ended up rolling my ankle and now it's swollen and messed up. It's because my knee was giving me problems so obvs the ankle would roll if I was jumping everywhere. Looks like I really have to see a doctor..

Left over Monday - where's the snow?

It's past the mid point of November and still there is no snow on the ground! Well, to be honest, it did snow but it melted.  It feels kind of weird without the snow but I shouldn't complain! *knock on wood..*

Today's lunch was yesterday's dinner! Rice with chicken and yam again. Can't say it was really good. The yam tasted better than the chicken. I think I may prefer the taste of vegetables, fruit and grains more than meat.

In my food and cultures class, there are no more lectures! Instead, there are a bunch of presentations that students' are doing about a country (I did a Jamaica presentation last monday). This one group had a phenomenal amount of foooooooood for us to try today! There was traditional Cree food! There is pumpkin cookie, bison balls (no not that kind), blueberry bannock, pumpkin mash and wild rice! The cookie and bison ball was yumyum. The wild rice is suppose to have a nutty flavour.. but I didn't get to eat the rice or pumpkin mash because I had to run to my lab. grr.

L-R: wild rice, pumpkin cookie, blueberry bannock cube, two bison balls, pumpkin mash
After a long and boring lab in which I broke several glasswares... I went to the gym and actually ran nearly 2 miles! (1.75) at pretty slow pace.. My knee was really in pain >=[.. but I wanted to run so badly. After that run, my pain intensified and it was so painful to move it.  Probably wasn't a good idea to run. I better stop for a week for my knee to heal.

I went to 2nd cup to get some studying done and managed to get thru ten slides :(. I got a pomegranate white tea. I  got sooo tired and sleepy and I couldn't concentrate anymore. I also was kind of hungry. My mommy picked me up within 45 minutes >_<.

Also ate this to alleviate hunger for awhile (200 cals).

My dad made some weird spaghetti sauce today. HE really hates cooking so he makes all this weird easy-to-make food that we eat. I ate it with rice.  And also ate one persimmon that my mom peeled for me while watching dancing with the stars..

Today was a pretty blaaah. I definitely didn't get enough sleep today. Gonna try to hit the sack earlier tonight and wake up bright and early to bake something for my mom :D, go to the gym, get some studying done and go to that HESO meeting.

Sunday Nov 14 - chill sunday

Today I woke up super late! 11:00pm. Getting up is hard on weekends STILL. I don't think I even look forward to eating enough to wake me up. Still gotta work out something to get me up earlier..

I decided to go shopping with the sister. I grabbed a banana and stuffed it in my mouth before we left. She bought me an early Xmas present! A black olympic 2010 sweater..yay!

While waiting for my sis to get her ears pierced (again) at Claire's I stared at this display of candy apples......couldn't resist and sister seemed to agree that it was a good idea...

So I got the SKOR one! I ate the whole thing.

Did some dropping off and went to Danny's to work. I ate a bowl of cabbage and corned beef soup.

I ate part of this sugar cookie and a hot chocolate too! I love these sugar cookies..so delicious. I don't think I finished eating it though. I must have left at least half of it at the shop =S.

My dad encouraged me to eat this azn dessert. Looks like a steamed rice cake rolled in coconut flakes and black bean paste inside. SO GOOD! I love asian desserts! I can't wait til T&T Market arrives at POLO PARK!!!

I headed to the gym to do run off some fat/steam but ALAS my knee cap was still doing stupid things. I can't run and I don't know what to do seeing as I have this DRIVE  to go the the gym but can't do my regular cardio workout. UGH.

I went Starbucks after to get some serious talking done with K and got a raspberry mocha!

I drove home and my mom prepared dinner for me! Roasted chicken with melted cheese and tomato? or salsa? dressing with yams. I was super hungry but could only eat about 1/3 of this.. appetite gone down the drain. =(. I packed the left overs for lunch tomorrow.

Regular ol Saturday

Saturdays usually mean I work at Kenko...but to start off my day I had a small bowl of vector cereal and a smoothie which had a bunch of Frozen Fruits, fat free yogurt, and milk.

My eyes were still hungry I defrosted this blueberry waffle in the toaster. I also slathered  it with a tbsp of peanut butter (not pictured).
I was seriously distracted by KPOP all afternoon and didn't get to the gym as soon as I'd wanted to. I did some cardio there (not much =(..) Probably about 1.5 miles + 10 minutes of eliptical. I pulled something funny on my knee cap and jogging is kind of painful. This is very concerning =/. I need to run!.. Perhaps I need to stretch it differently.

Anyway, when I got home I was STARVING so I made this yummy chicken caesar salad inspired salad. There is light caeser dressing, shredded old cheddar cheese (SO GOOD) and  pan fried chicken. My parents marinated some chicken for tonight but hadn't cooked it yet. It was about 4someting and they weren't going to be home for awhile. I cut off a bit of one chicken breast and pan fried it with some soya sauce (haha so azn) and it tasted pretty good. Ate this guy in from of the TV.

After eating that I was CRAVING some more cheese! I ate about 3x this amount shown.

By the time I finished prepping and eating my food I had an hour left til work.. so I played some Farmville and got ready for work.

The shift felt pretty long (530-10:50) mostly because there was too many servers tonight. There were two parties of 20 and for one only 12 people showed up and the other, 16 people showed up. =/. So in the end we overbooked the number of servers that should've been there. Thankfully, in the end, I made a decent amount of tip ;).

At work I ate some Agadashi Tofu (fried tofu) with tempura sauce

I also ate one piece of the right roll (BC) and three pieces of the left roll (salmon+avocado+cucumber) roll.

In the end it was a pretty fun night with the servers. I think I'm getting to know them fairly well and talking with them is always a good time! One of them even complimented me by saying it was fun to work with me :').
