Oct 22 - Another Forks Event

For breakfast I had a banana pb sandwich. It kept me full all the way until 1:30! My stomache was making weird noises in my third class and I tried to calm it down with some water but it really wanted some food! If I'd brought a clif bar, all would have been well but I alas I did not =(.

So the next time I ate it was at 11:30ish. I had two bites of beef pieces. I was doing a volunteer taste test session at school and that just happened to be what we were trying. It's quite an interesting experience. Today we were being trained on how to describe aroma and taste. I found it difficult to think of good descriptors for food smells. All in all the beef we tried was pretty bland.

Every time I stop downtown, I walk through The Bay and stare are the shoes/boots in awe.. I know I can't afford to buy anything but that doesn't stop me from looking. In the end I get pretty sad that I can't buy anything and GO HOME. But today I decided  to stop at Sterling randomly and discovered they were having a 50% off already reduced items! I found these and total was  $25+ tax! Yay!

The next REAL meal was at 5:30PM =S. Not good! I really should have really packed something. I ate a bowl of tomato pasta soup and half an egg salad sandwichey.

1.5 Ladle fulls of TOM pasta

Half an egg salad on MG bread
Then came the event! All the tenants at the Forks had to stay a bit later and cater towards this event (still dunno what it was) but there were a lot of people from all over Canada trying out different foods at the Forks! Here's what I picked up while out foods from other shops:
Salmon Cream cheese crepes

Naan bread and chick peas

Only had two bites of this fish n chips + tartar sauce

Some chicken balls

Ate the raspberry and one mini donut

Oct 21 - Cereal Galore.. and surprise mama steak!

This morning I ate a delicious bowl of cereal for breakfast. I miss eating cereal for breakfast =). Maybe I'd been having to much bread n banana days in a row.
Honey Bunches of Oats
I wanted to show you guys all 13 boxes of cereal in my house. I keep buying cereal without finishing old cereal.. so this is what happens! Lots of choice .. my brother really likes mini wheats cereal.

Cheerios, Flax, Granola,Oatmeal Crisp,Corn Pops, Mini Wheats Strawberry, Mini wheats blueberry, honey bunches of oats, kashi lean!

Vector, Special K, Cranberry Almond
Mini Wheats Original and Frosted!
I packed a super healthy lunch. PB Sandwich, Persimoon, Plum, Apples (uneaten), Oranges (uneaten), banana (uneaten) and some blueberry crackers. I didn't have much of an appetite..

I also discovered that I am IN LOVE with Starbucks orange blossom tea. This is a ggreen tea with a hint of orange. I had this two days in a row!
Orange Blossom
When I got home, I discovered that my mama made some yummy (but cold) steak!! So I ate it. So YUM!!!!!! The bbq sauce was a bit too much I found, but all good. There was also some purple beets! These are really good. They have a sweet taste to them but more fibery than potatoes. There are also some banana peppers on the side ;).

Oct 20 - RAMEN CRAAAAAASH

For breakfast I think I ate a bowl of honey bunches of oats (not pictured). Lunch was eaten in first class (@10:30) and was a PB sandwich. Yummmmmy. I really like peanut butter! I think I prefer it over nutella AND almond butter. But it's good to change up your butters often ;)

Plastic Wrappped!

I also ate a Luna Bar. I had the last one, the caramel nut brownie flavour. I am so thankful to have these Luna Bars on hand! They definitely keep me full and taste great and so convenient. This one was my 2nd favourite.. after the lemon one!

When I got home, I was starving! So I finally gave into my nongshim ramen craving and it was good! It really did satisfy my 3 week old craving. I think the next time I'll eat another pkg is in another month =). I added an egg and some green beans! YUMMMM!
Egg, Green beans and RAMEN!!! (I can actually eat spicy now!)
I had coconut tofu as a snack, as well as some chips my mom bought.............I only ate about 15. The chips were blue cheese flavour, and blue cheese tastes DISGUSTING. Luckily there was only a hint of blue cheese..

Oct 19 - Bananana

This morning I woke up at 10:30am. I dawdled around for an hour and finally managed to get ready for my day at 11:30. I woke up in a grumpy mood because a) it was late during the day b)my dad was cooking and I wanted to eat my OWN food c)I had work at 6pm. I ended up heading over to shoppers and picked up some bread, cereal and toothpaste. With this bread I made a double serving of what I'd usually eat. This breakfast was to last til dinner.. Ate this while watching tv with my dad.

Dempsters whole wheat bread, nutella spread, almond spread, one whole banana and pecan pieces.
I also had a bowl of soup that my Dad was cooking. He made a soup with a bunch of chinese ingredients. There was some peanuts (boiled), beancurd, taro and chicken (chopped up!). There was chicken stock in the soup to taste as well. It was a very good broth soup! Taro in soup = awesome.

Picture doesn't do justice for the taste of the soup!
I stopped at starbucks before work for an hour and worked on my blog. I had a cup of strong coffee with cream, sugar and milk. I finished about half the cup..and threw the rest away at work.

The cost: 2.02
Since it was soo dead (as usual) at work, the kitchen was working over time in creating sushi for the workers. I only managed to capture this one picture. I ate four pieces of this *new* sushi that the sushi chef, Sun made.  Inside is banana with some atlantic salmon covering it. There was also onion which I avoided. This banana sushi was pretty good! I also tried a piece of bean curd nigiri sushi, and a piece of salmon nigiri sushi. I guess this was my dinner =).

Bananana Sushi!!!!! :)
Which brings me to the end of my day. After work I took the bus to scup (avoiding home) and finished up some blogging here. I bought a cup of green tea (2.00) which I'll take a picture of shortly. I miss baking things but after MT's I'll be ready to bake again. Ta-ta.

For midnight snack I ate honey bunches of oats cereal! Yumm

Oct 18 - Long grumpy monday

This morning I woke up and early to finish up some research. And I finally caught the *on time* bus! The second time this year. :). I quickly made lunch but only had RYE bread to work with. I ate banana+pb+rye bread sandwich in class.
Used to like rye bread but now I LOVE multigrain, 12 grain, seeds, flax, sunflower seed.. basically bread with lots of crazy seeds!
During my second class, I ate 3 green tea berry crackers/cookies (not pictured). In the third class, I ate a Toasted Nuts n Cranberry Flavour Luna Bar! Definitely my least favourite of the three Luna Bars I've eaten so far.

After a long painful lab, I went home and ate a delicious bowl of rice with Dad's *pork in a pot*. This time he made it with dill inside! A nice lil twist. I also ate half a boiled egg and pickled choy! I watched dwts with my mom for two hours while eating as well =.=.

I had a bowl of yesterday's broth soup.

And a teeny tiny banana. Compare to the soup spoon. These bananas are super sweet!
Tiny banana

I had 4 tablespoons of mango yogurt ice cream for desert. My mom scooped it for me!

At the end of two hours, I had half  white nectarine (other half went to Xtine). Mmm.

October 17. Sunday. Mom made dinner - colourful fishballs

This lazy day started with me rolling out of bed late. Instead of doing school work, I chose to clean my room XD. Breakfast was my typical bread, banana, almond and pecans.

I also had one of these chinese banana leaf + flour mix + ground pork+shitaki mushrooms inside things. I think my aunt made it and my mom took some home. It's really good! I have no idea what it's called  though.

Mystery name chinese thingy.
After work at Danny's, I came home to my mom's home cookin'. She went to lucky supermarket and picked up all these weird coloured fish balls with random things inside. One of the stuffings were taro root! It tasted OK. I prefer real fish! The broth had chicken stock and dill (stringy green pieces you see).

Fish ball concoction.
Mommy also fried some yummilicious mystery fish. Goood but probably quite fatty. Was kinda drenched in oil.
Condiments: pickled choy, banana peppers and fish sauce.

Sunday night study snack consisted of hot chocolate made with REAL chocolate, a chocolate package and milk. I heated the milk and chocolate in a pot.. I didn't think it'd be chocolatey enough so I added part of a package of actual hot chocolate mix. In the end it was way to creamy! I drank maybe 4 sips.. and threw the rest away. What a waste :(.
Intensely chocolatey Hot Chocolate

I also had some apple with cinnamon (traccy inspired!) and couldn't resist putting some PB on it.

October 16. A Saturday of eating seefood.

I woke up on Saturday pretty late. It was ching ming (tomb sweeping day) so I visited my grandpa's grave with my family to pay respects and to remember about him.  My dad always buys some maxim bakery and *bi sun*'s it for my grandpa (basically put it in front of grave stone and light incense for my grandpa to "eat"). It's been 13 years since my grandpa died. He really was an important part of the family and brought all the kids on my mom's side together. Those were happy times.. He died when he was only 72. Pretty early but he smoked like a chimney and died of lung cancer..
Chicken Bun

Couldn't resist. Half a cream bun.
I went home and ate some of these cracker things . So gooooooooooooood.

Then I took the bus to work to Kenko. It was sooo dead. I worked for three hours and made 12 dollars of tip. SAD.  However, I did get a free veggie kamekaze roll from the sushi chef. Awesome!
Veggie Kamekaze.
I stopped at starbucks after work to work on a lab/study. Not much got done but I did get a yummy hot chocolate!.. The barista gave me some free foam too! ;). Being friendly sure has its perks !
Hot Choco and FOAM!
K picked me up and we worked on our labs for a little while. Then we rented The Girl with the Dragon tattoo. Very graphic (rapes scenes) but interesting mystery movie. It was very interesting and kept me attentive the whole time!  Warning - it is in Swedish so be prepared to read subtitles for 2.5  hours. Also ate some tortilla chips with bean dip, seasoned ground beef, sour cream and guacamole!.. Maybe 7-10 chips..

Oct 15. 2010 - Chocolate Chicken and Bison

This morning I woke up in a rush but managed to make a nutella-banana sandwich on multigrain bread. This is the type of MG bread my parents sell at the restaurant, and it's pretty good! I didn't have time to mash my bananas or put any pecan pieces on it but it still tasted great!
Nutella, Banana on multigrain bread

About to leave the house while cramming the sandwich in my face.
Mandarin orange (with seeds eww..) for snack.

Lunch was eaten in class. This clif bar is really good! I love the hint of mint combined with chocolate. Was kind of like those After 8 chocolate things.
When I got home from school there was yummy asian food! Looks like there is gai lan, bbq pork amd some left over tofu. My dad probably didn't feel like cooking much that day and just bought some fatty pork..which I ate XD.
Gai lan, rice, BBQ pork, tofu
Nikki's Birthday night was supposed to be at this new place on Osborne called Segovia but that place was packed (and does not take reservations). So we ended up at Fude! I small locally owned restaurant in osborne village. Almost all their food supports Manitoba farmers so I was very impressed. Prices were a little expensive but it IS a fine dining restaurant. To start, I ordered a raspberry chocolatini! The name sounded so good and delicious but to be honest it was a little strong. I can't remember what was in it...the best part was the chocolate inside!

Raspberry Chocolatini
Appetizers were pieces of bread. Not sure what was in these things but they tasted herb like (what herbs, I don't know =(.. ), and bit spongy almost like scone consistency but less dry. I'd definitely eat it again It also didn't come with any butter and instead there was an an red coloured oil vinaigrette dipping sauce which was yummy! Trying new foods is great!

I shared the main course with Cindy which had chocolate chicken, some pork?beef? pieces, and a rack o bison meat! Bison tastes like beef.. not a big fan. My fav was the pieces of mystery meat in the middle. Very tender n juicey, then the chocolate chicken which was a strange combination but good nonetheless!

Chocolate chicken, mystery (but yummy) meat, rack of bison

We went to AREA night club, a newly renovated Canad Inns club. It was alright..honestly just looks like a mix of stereo and republic. The crowd didn't have enough asians. XD. I downed 3 shots there :(. A total of 5 drinks that night. Afterwords, midnight drunken food craving led us to Mcdonalds and three of us girls shared these fatty McDs fries. ohh dear.

broke my 2ish months of no mcdonalds ..didn't taste that good. Homeade YAM FRIES > Mcdonalds fries.
