Sept 17 - Canned fish love

It looks so boring...
For breakfast I finally had some Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal with apples and cinnamon. (130) I microwaved the contents of the package with 2/3 cup of milk (60). It was pretty bland and boring to be honest. A very very unexciting breakfast to start off my day with.. not sure if I'm wanting to eat this again for awhile. There must be a way to spice it up?
Canned fish is very convenient for putting into sandwiches! There's always some in the cupboard and it has a long shelf life! And I LIKE the taste of canned fish. The other day I had a tuna salad sandwich for lunch. Salmon is higher in fat than tuna, but it does contain a lot more calcium! Today I made a salmon (170) salad sandwich with lettuce and tomato (5). I chose Dempster's whole grain bread (2 slices, 160 calories) at Sobey's last night while grocery which isn't as good as my usual 12 Grain Country Harvest bread. :(. Nonetheless the sandwich was pretty good! I think I should have drained the salmon a little bit more but that's okay! I added one tbsp of low calorie mayonnaise (30 calories) and some romaine lettuce to the sandwich.I also ate the kashi bar (120) and a salad (72). I ate the salad when I got home and so use half of it to put into a wrap (not pictured). The wrap was 100 calories.

For dinner I went out to this restaurant with K called Inferno's Bistro in St. Boniface. We had the crab cakes for at appetizer. It was soo goood and melted in my mouth. There was small pieces of mango on top that tasted pretty unripe *young* I forgot to take a pic of it before I started eating it..


I decided to try the Penne Inferno (pasta) since it was recommended on the website.  It was "Penne pasta with chicken, onions, peppers & wilted spinach, served in a chili spiked cream sauce". I really enjoyed it because the creaminess of the sauce wasn't too too creamy like it'd be like at Boston's Pizza or when you use creamy sauce from a jar. It also wasn't too spicy so at all! The sauce was really rich and full of flavour. I also appreciated that it was good serving size. Yum! I'd definitely order it again.

K's food was kinda weird. The "Jarret D'agneau" was also recommended on the website. It's a braised lamb shank, which actually tasted like roast beef. It was actually kind of dry.. maybe lamb is supposed to taste like that? Also, it was difficult to eat since it's well lamb shank and you have to scrape the meat off this huge piece of bone. The best part was the vegetables it came with. I tried the yam sauce and it was sooo goood. I forgot how much I love yam! Need to purchase it next time I go grocery shopping.

Sept 16 - Serving burns a lot of calories!

Today for brunch I ate 1/2 a cup of rice, ground pork with tofu, and tomatoes as well as ground pork with pepper and onion 300). (My dad made it). It was a good lunch but I felt like I needed to eat more. So I ate milk and vector! (150)



Then I went volunteering and we made bean and tomato soup. (150) I had a ladle full. It's pretty easy to make. Basically open a bunch of cans of beans, tomatoes and macaroni and throw it in the pot.

I stopped by Starbucks before work and had a Tall cup of coffee with honey and milk. (100)

Work was pretty busy! I was constantly moving and walking really fast. At the end, I had to vacuum the whole restaurant and that made me sooo tired! I was starting to sweat. I must've burned a lot of calories working.. don't know much though  I looked through some forums about waitressing/serving and apparently you burn 120-150 calories an hour. I worked for 5 hours and for 4 I was constantly in motion. (120x4 = 480 calories?) Crazy!  To know for sure I need to purchase a pedometer..to count the number of steps I take. Maybe! 


While at work I ate rice with winter melon, pieces of beef and cucumber. It tasted like something my parents would make at home. Yum! (260)


I went grocery shopping with K after work and bought a bunch of yummy stuff! This includes bread, granola and yogurt! I was hungry after so I ate bread and nutella (160), granola and yogurt (170) and half a cup of milk (45).

Sept 15 - mediocre food

For breakfast I ate vector and milk! I only had 4 minutes to eat it so I really had to stuff it in my mouth.. It tasted good but it could have been better. If I woke up a LITTLE bit earlier I'd add cranberry mix and bananas and eat a medium bowl of it! Tomorrow I'm going to try to eat oatmeal for breakfast..if I can find it anyway.

Kind of boring.
I packed my lunch the day before. I made a tuna salad sandwich. Half a can of tuna has 16g of protein! (64 cals) I also had two tomato slices in it and low calorie mayonnaise.  Since I had left over tuna I made a sandwich for my seestar too! <3 In total the sandwich had about 320 calories! I also packed some apple sauce, kashi and carrots but didn't eat it....... I think I need to make my lunches more appetizing. I don't really like apple sauce or carrots without dipping sauce. Also, the kashi bar is honestly kind of dry and boring tasting I have to admit. Time for a cereal bar switch?

Canned Soup usually tastes suspiciously delicious.
I went to the square after and made myself a smoothie using the magic bullet! Magic bullets are soo easy to use and efficient and you can make enough smoothie just for one! I definitely will invest in one when I get my own place. The smoothie had tropicana juice, wild blueberries, milk and activia yogourt. (240 calories). I didn't really like that my smoothie had juice in it. Usually I just add milk. It tasted more citrus-y which was different.. I like creamy smoothies better!

I was pretty hungry by now and decided to cut up an apple and eat it with 1 tbsp of peanut butter. It tasted really good! I definitely prefer to put the pb on the slices instead of on the side and dipping it. This way the pb doesn't run out before the apple does!!!! 


After my long nap (it really felt long!), My sister woke me up and made me attend yoga class at the Y. It was super relaxing and I'm glad I went. I almost feel more at peace with the world. At the gym, used the elliptical for 25 minutes! I would have run if I had gone alone but everyone seemed to want to leave AND I guess it was getting pretty late too. 
I was pretty much STARVING by the time I got back and my sister left me half a serving of clam chowder soup (100 calories). I slurrppped it down and it was gone within 5 minutes >_<. It  tasted really good for canned soup. Almost tooo creamy though. That's how you know it's canned. Tastes to creamy and delicious haha.

 
I suggested that we should make some frozen pizza because I was still hungry. It was pretty high in fat and I noticed on the nutrition label that there was trans fats in the pizza :(. That made me grossed out but I still ate 1/3 of the pizza..(293 calories)


Christine has this really cool single-cup coffee maker and she made a cup of coffee for me! I added a tbsp of honey (80 calories) and some milk (10). I haven't had coffee for a really long time because of budgeting >_< so I really appreciated this cup of coffee (probably the reason why I'm still functioning at 85% at this hour) Notice my new backpack in the background! <3 <3 What a good buy!

My mom phoned me and told me she made some noodles + spicy crab meat suace. Someone finally used the left over noodles I cooked way back when I made the bean spaghetti sauce. (YES!!) And I have to say, it tasted a lot better than the spaghetti that I made >_>. It was a little spicy but I didn't really mind that much. This is one of my favourite easy-to-prepare dishes that my mom makes. Don't know how many calories are in this :(. Probably a similar amount to a cup of rice.. (200?) I told Christine to get in the picture. LOL. Isn't she a doll?



And last but not least I ate breakfast at 2:00am in the morning because I was hungry. It's probably because I didn't have enough for breakfast and lunch. I will eat a bigger breakfast tomrrow.. I ate cranberry crunch (?) cereal + cranberry mix and milk (230 calories).

Sept 14 - evening snack a thon

This morning I woke up at 11:30 and had about 45 minutes to get ready and still managed to rush in packing lunch. I should seriously consider packing lunch at night..so that my lunch food doesn't have to be compromised. My brother drove me to my bus stop today! I ate my normal breakfast: Nutella and bread.  Despite eating nutella and bread every morning (lately), I'm not sick of it yet O_O. But I definitely need to stick some cereal into my diet..more fibre! I got to school a bit late (haha) and sat through the Manitoba Pre-Dietics Partnership Info session. Very informative and a good wake up call on how I need to get on the ball with this preparation.

Rice with veggies+ shrimp and dumplings

For lunch, I ate what I had for dinner last night. Rice(200) with tomato veggies(30)+shrimp(60) and 2 dumplings (100). Again it was too peppery but I was soo hungry! I also ate a chocolate quaker granola bar (100)and a Mott's Fruit Sensation Sauce (50) and a cup of Mint tea! I kind of wish I had a salad or a wrap for lunch but alas no time!!!!! I left my apple alone .. I really need to cut it up into slices so I actually eat it!


Decent Salad
After my HESO meeting I went to my sister's  and her place is LOADED with snacks. Not a good idea to eat there. I started off well. I ate a salad with cottage cheese, cranberry mix and carrots. [133] Then I ate half a package of udon noodles (120) with some chicken stock (10), five baby carrots (13), and an egg (78). [221]. I looked in her cabinets and she had so many chip bags! I ate 12 regular old lays chips and it wasn't that good (120). So  I decided to eat half a cup of pralines and creme ice cream (130). I felt really guilty and so decided to drink a cup of green tea. After this I STILL had the munchies and ate MORE chips (120) and salsa (50).

I really have no self control with chips and ice cream. This is why I don't buy either when I go grocery shopping.. tomorrow will be a better day. Too much high fat/salt/sugar snack at the end of the night haha. Now time to go pack my lunch for tomorrow :).

Sept 13 - mini snacks!

Today I slept in late but still managed to wake up for class in time. It's one of those classes where you take notes the whole class and none of the notes are posted online. Definitely can't afford being late ever agin! I had two minutes left before having to leave and managed to stuff a piece of bread with Nutella (200) in my mouth (no time for a pic) and pack a really quick lunch which consisted of  bread with Nutella, two cereal bars (kashi chocolate cherry (120), peanut butter quaker (100)), a banana(100), an apple(didn't eat), a package of chamomile citrus tea  and my Starbucks mug! Since I've budgeted I can no longer afford to buy coffee or Starbucks at school...so now I boil water and drink tea at school. These are the only pics I managed to take. I like to snack in class when I get sleepy because it wakes me up!  I ate the kashi bar during my last class..

When I got home for dinner at 5:45, I ate this tomato. onion, shrimp, celery, winter melon stew with 1 cup of rice. I also ate 5 dumplings from some frozen package.  My dad put a shietload of pepper in. Like WAY too much.. I'd imagine if it didn't have that much pepper, it'd taste super awesome. I watched family guy and the food network while eating this.  :).

I managed to drag myself to the gym after my nap and ran for 20 minutes (2 miles) and used an elliptical for 5 minutes. =D. First time in a very long time! I'm proud of me.

When I get home from a workout, I usually get the munchies and want to eat everything. Here's what happened: I drank half a cup of milk (50) and ate an egg tart (170 OMG) that magically appeared. I also ate 1/8th of a lotus paste mooncake. Moon Cakes are extremely calorie heavy! One whole moon cake has 800 calories due to high sugar and fat content! That one eighth pieces was probably around 100 calories.  I also ate half an italian sausage (150)T_T.

At around midnight I decided I really wanted to eat an apple. I sliced it up and added a tbsp of peanut butter. I also ate a yogurt cup... I wasn't event hungry. I just ate it >_<.

Sept 12 - 10 hour work day !

At 5:00am this morning I was STARVING and cold so I decided to eat a bowl of instant noodles (560)...It looks pretty gross in this photo. The brand is the nongshim kind (that the Korean people eat @ my work!) It was spicy and delicious and made me soooooooo bloated. I fell asleep after eating this.

I woke up at 8:00am to go to work at Danny's. I ate a slice of white toast there (100) and two juices boxes (200).

When I got home at 2:30, I was super tired but feeling the guilt of the morning's "breakfast,  I decided to make myself a delicious salad with  romaine lettuce, cucumbers, grapes, grape cherries,blue berry goat cheese and one kiwi! The kiwi was in my fridge for over 4 weeks but still wasn't rotten or molded.. It was perfectly fine. It actually was kind of sour.. this kind sweetest of left a weird after taste in my mouth. Don't know if I'll add kiwi in my salads in the future. Then I also ate a slice of toast and nutella. I think I'm addicted to this stuff! =[.  I'm to lazy to calorie count this...About 300?

After watching an episode of family guy, I took a shower and went to sleep for as 30 minutes. Then I woke up and got ready to go to job number 2! Kenko Niwa. It was super dead there (3 tables in 4 hours), so time passed by realllllllly slowly. I ate a bowl of miso soup and the Sushi chef made me a sushi roll of my choice! I chose the spider roll which is made with soft shell crab. I ate two pieces and remembered that I needed to take a picture of it! Not sure how many calories are in this roll.

When I got home my dad told me to eat these italian sausages in the fridge but I refused. Instead I ate 3/4 cup of maple walnut yogourt ice cream (180 calories) with a President's Choice brand waffle bowl (80 calories). It was really cute and exciting.  Maple walnut is my parents favourite flavour of ice cream. It's OK.. but I prefer cookies and cream! I need to sleep early today. Surviving a 10 hour work day after 3 hours of sleep is really no fun! zzzzz.Wonder what I'll throw in my lunch tomorrow...?

Sept 11 - Minimal alcohol weekend :D

In case you were wondering, Xtine ate the other half.
For breakfast I had BREAKFAST! My dad brought it home from Danny's at 9:00am? And I ate it at 3:00pm and ate it on the way to Dannys to work LOL. It was pretty much half a breakfast. I had about 10 hashbrowns (150?), a fried egg (90), half a piece of toast (50) and half a slice of ham (30).  320 calories.

 While at Dannys I had a about 5 sips of avocado bubble tea (?), coffee with milk and splenda (40), and an orange juicebox (90).
I friggin love pizza
When I got home my brother ordered pizza for everyone. I vowed to eat one slice of pizza.. but ended up planning to eat two which failed because the second one was too spicy! So I took a bite and gave the rest to my mom. I took this as a sign I should only eat one slice. A slice of cheese pizza is about 250 calories. Since this pizza had added spinach and roasted chicken breast, I'll added about 50 calories. Total is ~300.

I also ate a broth soup that my dad made. Not sure how to count calories in broth soups :S. Going to ignore it for now. The soup was made with 7 ears of corn , one large onion, pork bones, and some carrots. It was very tasty! I also ate 1/3 ear of corn (50).. MMm corn. 

Tonight was Heathers birthday and to celebrate I bought her and myself a long island iced tea! I watched the bartender make it. Looks like she just put 3/4 oz of vodka, 1/4 oz of triple sec and maybe another 1 oz of gin. There's suppose to be tequila in it but I didn't see her add it? Anyway kind of a weird way to make it. She added some cola and probably some of that weird green lime stuff. This is probably 300-400 calories. I forgot to take a picture of this drink. :(. All those calories isn't worth the yuck drink.. haha.

Broth soups are really the BEST!
I was hungry after this and ate some chicken noodle soup (110) + dinner roll (110) with some friends at Tim Hortons! This always hits the spot.. it's so gooood!

Total is 1410 calories (not including bbt and soup broth Dad made). Which is really not enough considering ~400 of those calories is from alcohol. I'm pretty hungry now :( but it's bed time!

Sept 10 - First Day of School - packed lunches!

I slept pretty late on Thursday ..not smart! I had to wake up at 8:30 to get ready for class in the morning. I managed to shower, pack lunch and eat brekky! For breakfast I had a delicious piece of bread and nutella. I was in such a rush while packing/eating that I forgot to take a pic til the very last moment ... lol. Eating nutella is like eating a delicious milk chocolate bar + yummy bread. Although it tastes good, it certainly isn't very filling. This was 200 calories.

I eat lunch between 11:30-12:20 at school because that's when my spare is! I managed to pack a salad with: 1 cup romaine lettuce(10), 1/4 cup  babycarrots (30), 1/4 cup grapes (30), 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes (3), 1 tbsp blueberry goat cheese (25). I didn't pack any dressing because I had no container for it..but the blueberry goat cheese certainly makes up for it. I ended up eating only the salad and yogourt during that allotted time (too full). The salad took forever to eat and I'd pretty much lost my appetite at the end of it. Total 98 calories.

During my last class I got super hungry and ate that half sandwich you see on the far right. Then I became sleepy and nodded off in class during the movie LOL. This is the same thing that I had for breakfast (bread and nutella - 200 calories). After class I decided I'd eat the banana (100) cuz otherwise it would probably squish and turn into mush in my bag since it was CRAZY ripe.

After my nap, I ate some BAD food...... I ate hamburger flavoured Doritos. It actually tastes like a hamburger o_O. So weird! It was really good and addictive and I wanted to eat the whole bag but thankfully K only gave me a small bowl which I didn't want refilled. I probably ate 100 calories worth (19 chips is 230 calories). I also ate a marble cheese string. (60 calories)

For dinner I broke the bank and ate a small bowl of pho from a lime green coloured restaurant.. lol something Dang? Anyway looking up pho calories online one small bowl is 450-500 calories. It tasted pretty OK. This is more of a southern style type of broth (added sugar) which I'm not as used to. This meal made me super bloated. I love pho!

When I got back to K's house, I was craving a chocolate vitatop! We dropped by safeway and I bought a box. To cook it, you microwave it for 18 seconds, and then put it in your toaster. Since K didn't have a toaster, we used a toaster oven! I don't have a toaster oven, and I think its pretty cool :). Very convenient and I think it did the job better than a toaster would have! I ate the chocolate vitatop (100 calories) with a cup of yummy vanilla bean hot chocolate made from a package from Second Cup (150 calories). 

 










I didn't finish all my lunch at school that I packed. When I got home I was hungry again so I ate the gala apple (100 calories) and the kashi bar (120 calories).

Total: 1728 calories. Not a bad day. I ate a good amount of fruits and veggies. But I also had nutella + bread twice which is 400 calories, and is probably why my calorie count is a bit high. Since I did a lot of activity on this day (school, bus, walking, etc) I need approx ~1760 calories.
